From Surviving to Thriving: 170+ Wild Food Recipes for the Pacific Northwest
Meet the Woman Behind Eat off the Land
I’m Sharon Trammell, a NOWA award-winning author, speaker, and the founder of Forage & Thrive—a growing brand and book series dedicated to helping people reconnect with nature through foraging, wild food, and self-sufficient living.

My work blends lived experience with practical, hands-on skills. My debut book, Becoming Strength, chronicled my journey from survival to resilience and established my voice as an honest, grounded storyteller. I now carry that work forward through Eat Off the Land and the Forage & Thrive series, where I teach others how to build confidence, abundance, and independence through wild food knowledge and intentional living.

As an award-winning author and increasingly sought-after speaker, I bring both passion and experience to every page and every stage—making traditional skills accessible, empowering, and deeply relevant for modern life. My work invites people to step outside, reclaim lost knowledge, and rediscover their relationship with the land.

Inside the Book
Forage with Confidence
Learn to identify and harvest wild foods safely, with tips for mushrooms, plants, and fish unique to the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Never second-guess what you’re bringing home again.

Create Wild Remedies
Go beyond the plate by crafting natural remedies like herbal salves and soothing teas from everyday plants like elderberries, calendula, or purple dead nettle.
Your foraged finds become tools for healing, self-sufficiency, and thriving, like the anti-itch salve featured in the book.
Cook Adventurously
Transform wild meats like venison, elk, or grouse, along with foraged greens, mushrooms, and fruits into gourmet meals over the fire or in your kitchen.
Think steaming bowls of wild pho, cast iron roasts, and sweet treats enriched by wild berries.
